My sister and I as  children. These were the early days of my film appreciation  career.

Okay, so maybe watching Mr. Bean didn't count as the most 'avant-garde' film but you have to start somewhere!

WHY THIS BLOG?

LONG ANSWER: I LOVE FILM.

It's not something that I share with everyone, but if you get to know me you'll quickly find out that film is something that I'm very passionate about. I've been watching and reading and talking about film ever since I could remember. True story: I actually wouldn't eat as an infant unless the TV was on!

Starting from several years ago, I began looking at film more closely than simply entertainment. I actively observed everything from plot structure, to shot composition, to screenplay writing, to sound design in a piece of cinema. It got to a point where watching a film became more of an academic exercise than a mere pass-time.

Now I'm ready to share what I've learned with you and start my own path in cinema!

A BIT ABOUT ME...

SPOILER: I'M VERY (UN)INTERESTING

I'm a Canadian undergraduate student of South Indian origin currently studying in a pre-medicine program with an interest in pursuing epidemiology and medicine in the future.

Although I love to study (and I mean that in the most sincere, most honest way), I also love to have debates, write short stories, keep up to date with current events, sing classical Carnatic music, and of course, watch and critique film.

Nowadays in the new age of the internet and hyper-connectivity, I believe it's overrated to pursue a 'traditional' career path. So, this is my earnest attempt at both pursuing a fulfilling academic path as well as doing something that I love.

I'm so glad that you have joined me in this journey and I can't wait to share my love for film with you!

Please feel free to shoot me an email if you want to have a good conversation about film or if there is an opportunity you feel that I can help out with.

Happy watching and reading!

Taking beautiful candids is basically my most stand-out skill (joking).

A VERY LONG DISCLAIMER

(JUST SO I DON'T GET ANY TROLLS OR LAWSUITS)

Before we get started I want to make it perfectly clear that there are spoilers in all of these articles. Please do not read them if you haven't watched the film or aren't comfortable with knowing the plot before you watch the movie.

In the span of the 3-7 paragraphs I use to write my film reflections there's no way that I can do complete artistic justice to a film that took up to several months to write and film with a crew of smart, talented, and passionate film-makers.

Trust me when I say that I'm very self-aware of my potential ignorance and it is never my intention to cause any harm. Through these film reviews my intention is never to degrade the artistic or commercial accomplishments of any film. Rather, my goal is to try my hand at argumentative writing and rigorously evaluate cinema.

I want to learn and I want to share what I learn with you all in a safe, respectful, and constructive environment.

Please, if there is any time that you feel that a film review has quoted inaccurate or hurtful information, reach out to me and make yourself heard. I take it as my duty to listen and make any due corrections.

I want to create a community of people who share my adoration for film and I invite you all to be a part of it! And trust me when I say that my appreciation of all the films I review cannot be kept contained in just those few paragraphs. There is always something that I've omitted either due to space restraint, lack of sufficient evidence, etc. If you want to talk about a film with me, shoot me a message and I would be more than excited to do that!
